FAQs (Behavior Change)

What is Behavior Change?

Behavior change is a process you undergo as you move through the stages of change that include precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance [1].

In basic terms, behavior change is tweaking what you regularly do to improve health.

What is Behavior Change

Additionally, behavior change is a planned, guided, and measured approach [2].

This means:

  • Implementing a strategy for change (short-term and/or long-term).

  • Collecting and reflecting on information about the behavior change.

  • Choosing one or more techniques that could be effective for your behavior change.

  • Monitoring and tweaking the chosen intervention.

Why Behavior Change Matters?

Behavior change – two words, endless possibilities. It's taking charge of your life, bit by bit, decision by decision, to shape a more complete and healthy way of living.

I liken behavior change to walking up a gradual but large hill.

As you gradually notice the work, you see the hill in front of you and move step by step to ascend the hill, and enjoy the view from the top.

In my opinion, transitions in behavior fundamentally lean on patience, persistence, and personalization.

For example, with habits such as exercising regularly or improving your diet, the key is to know why you're doing it, set goals that are realistic, and appreciate every small achievement.

After all, a thousand-mile journey begins with a single step!
